Animals (total n = 6 per group for CCI, n = 4 per group for sham surgery) were euthanatized at 1, 3, or 7 days following injury and the ipsilateral (Ipsi) and contralateral (Contra) hippocampi were rapidly removed for isolation of the mitochondria. Mitochondrial bioenergetics was assessed using the Seahorse Biosciences XFe24 Flux Analyzer. Data are expressed as the mean ± SD.
